Publishing & Scheduling
Move content from draft to live across your connected platforms — manually, on a schedule, or fully automatically.
Publishing is the last step in your RankTurn workflow: taking a finished article and sending it live on the platforms you've connected. You can do this in whatever style fits your process — publish on demand with one click, plan a calendar weeks ahead, or let everything run automatically.
RankTurn keeps track of every publish for each article and each platform, moving it from waiting, to in progress, to live (or failed) — so you always know exactly what went out, where, and when.
The Content Calendar
The content calendar is the home base for everything time-based. It shows the current month plus the next two months, stacked top to bottom, so you can see your upcoming pipeline at a glance. Use the arrows to slide the three-month window forward or back a month at a time, or click Today to jump back to the current month.
Each month displays an article count so you can quickly gauge how full your schedule is. Three kinds of cards appear on the calendar:
| Card | What it represents |
|---|---|
| Scheduled article | An article with a publish date set — it may still be a draft, waiting to be written, or already written and waiting to go live. Shows the article's status, title, and (when known) the target platform logos. |
| Publication | A publish that's underway. Shows its status and the platform it was sent to. |
| Series topic | An upcoming topic from an automatic Series that hasn't become an article yet. Marked with a series topic badge and an accent bar, it links to its series rather than to an article. |
Working with calendar cards
- Reschedule by dragging. Grab a card by its drag handle and drop it on a different day. The original time of day is kept on the new date. You can drag across month boundaries, and you can't drop onto a day in the past. Cards that are Published, being written, or Publishing can't be moved.
- Card actions. The actions available on a card depend on its status. A card still waiting to be written (Scheduled) shows a menu with the full set: open Generation Settings, Generate Now (start writing it immediately), Regenerate Title, Unschedule (clear the publish date), and Delete. Regenerate Title rewrites only the article's title (it counts against your title-suggestion allowance) — it does not rewrite the article body; to redo the body, use Generate Now here, or Regenerate in the article editor. Cards for articles that are already written or published show just a single action — Delete for a publication card, or Unschedule for a scheduled-article card — and a draft that hasn't been written yet also shows a quick Generation Settings shortcut.
- Write a series topic early. A series-topic card has a Generate Now action that turns the upcoming topic into a real article right away, instead of waiting for its scheduled day.
About series topics on the calendar
Series topics appear on their future publish days before they exist as articles — but only for series that are active and set to write articles automatically (paused or manual series aren't shown). The issue number ("Vol. N") is just a preview and may shift if you add or remove topics before they're written. Once a topic becomes an article (either automatically on its day or via Generate Now), the topic card disappears and a normal article card takes its place on the same day.
Ways to Publish
RankTurn gives you several paths from finished article to live post, and you can mix and match them freely.
Manual
Publish on demand from an article or from the articles list. You pick the article, choose one or more connected platforms, and send it immediately. This is the most direct option and is ideal for one-off posts or when you want to review right up to the moment of publishing.
Scheduled
Set a publish date on an article and RankTurn handles the timing for you. If the article hasn't been written yet, it's written for you ahead of the publish date; on the date itself, it's sent to your chosen platform(s). See Scheduling for the full workflow, including content plans and series.
Auto-publish
Auto-publish controls what happens the moment a scheduled article is ready:
- On — the article goes live automatically on its publish date, no manual step required.
- Off — the article is written and held, waiting for you to approve and publish it.
This is the difference between a fully hands-off flow and a write-then-review flow. You can turn auto-publish on or off per article, or set a default in your generation settings; see Scheduling for how it fits into the scheduled workflow.
Bulk
When you have many articles to push out, you don't have to do them one at a time. Select multiple articles from the list and publish them together, or schedule a batch across multiple dates.
Publication Statuses
Each publish is tracked separately, with a status that tells you where it is:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting to be sent to the platform. |
| Scheduled | Waiting for a future publish date and time. |
| Publishing | Currently being sent to the platform. |
| Published | Successfully live on the platform. |
| Failed | The publish didn't succeed. You can try again. |
| Cancelled | The publish was cancelled before it finished. |
A single article can be published to more than one platform, and each platform is tracked on its own. If you publish to the same place more than once (for example, by retrying after a failure), the calendar shows just one card per article and platform — favoring a successful result, then one in progress, then the most recent attempt — so you don't see duplicate "published" or "failed" cards for the same destination.
