Promotion Cards

Design reusable call-to-action and brand cards, then have RankTurn insert them into your articles automatically or by hand.

Promotion cards are reusable call-to-action (CTA) and brand blocks that get inserted into your articles — a styled box with a headline, optional description, a button linking to your landing page, and (for some styles) an image or an email sign-up form. You design them once as templates on the Promotion settings page, then RankTurn can drop them into every generated article automatically, or you can insert them by hand in the editor.

You manage them under Settings → Promotion. At the top is a card behavior panel that controls automatic insertion, and below it a templates list where you create and edit the cards themselves. Templates belong to the site you're working in.

There are two kinds of template, both created from the Add template dropdown:

  • CTA card — a styled box that links to a page on your site (seven visual styles, listed below).
  • Email form — embeds a newsletter sign-up form from your email provider.

The 8 Card Styles

Each template has one Card style that decides how it looks. Pick a style in the template editor by clicking one of the visual swatches.

StyleWhat it looks like
MinimalA light box with a bold title, optional description, and a text link for the call to action. Understated.
FeaturedA centered, bordered card with a solid button. This is the style new CTA cards start with.
BannerA wide horizontal bar: text on the left, button on the right (wraps on narrow screens).
GradientA bold gradient background with a large centered headline and button. Hard to miss.
ProductA card with an image on top, an optional badge pill, title, description, and a full-width button.
Image + CTAA two-column card: image on the left, large headline and button on the right.
Image onlyJust a single image that links to your page — no text, no colors. Needs an image.
Email FormAn embedded newsletter form from your email provider (Kit, MailerLite, Beehiiv, etc.). Created from Add email form.

A few style-specific rules to know:

  • Images are only available on the Product, Image + CTA, and Image only styles. For Product and Image + CTA, you can either point to a fixed image or have RankTurn create a fresh image for each article. Image only always uses a fixed image.
  • A badge (a small pill above the title) is only shown on the Product style.
  • Colors apply to every style except Image only (a bare linked image) and Email Form (which keeps its provider's own styling).
  • An Email Form card is never placed in the middle of an article — it only appears at the end.

Creating & Editing Templates

To create a CTA card, click Add template → Add CTA card. To edit an existing one, use the pencil icon in the templates list. The editor shows the form on the left and a live preview of the card on the right that updates as you type.

Fill in these fields:

  1. Template Name — a label for your own reference so you can tell templates apart (up to 50 characters). Not shown in articles.
  2. Card Style — one of the seven CTA styles above.
  3. URL — the page the card's button links to. Must start with https://. (Optional for Image only, which can be just a linked image.)
  4. Title — the card headline (up to 100 characters). Required for every style except Image only.
  5. Description — optional supporting text (up to 300 characters).
  6. Button text — the button label (up to 50 characters). Required for every style except Image only.
  7. Image — for the Product, Image + CTA, and Image only styles. Choose Use image URL (paste an image link starting with https://) or, for Product and Image + CTA, AI-generate from article to have a fresh image created for each article in a style you pick.
  8. Badge TextProduct only; a short pill label such as "New" (up to 50 characters).
  9. ColorsBackground, Primary (button), Secondary (button text), and Text color, entered as hex codes (e.g. #2563eb). Leave any blank to use the style's built-in default.

Draft with AI: instead of writing the title, description, and button text by hand, click Draft with AI. RankTurn reads your business profile and fills those three text fields for you to review. It does not touch your brand details — the image, colors, URL, and image style stay exactly as you set them. (Not available for Image only, which has no text.)

When you save, the template appears in the list. Other actions there:

  • Set as default — marks one template as the default (a star icon). The default is the template used for automatic insertion and is pre-selected in the editor.
  • Delete (trash icon) — removes the template after a confirmation.

Email form templates

To embed a newsletter sign-up form, click Add template → Add email form. Give it a name, then provide either:

  • Embed URL — the share URL from your email provider (e.g. https://yourname.kit.com/abc123), or
  • Embed code — the raw HTML embed snippet from the provider.

You must supply at least one of the two. The form is embedded safely in your articles, kept isolated from the rest of the page.

Insertion

Automatic insertion is controlled by the card behavior panel at the top of the Promotion page. There are three toggles:

  1. Include Promotion Card — the master switch. When off, no cards are auto-inserted (you can still add them by hand in the editor). When on, the default template is inserted into generated articles. The placement toggles below only apply while this is on.
  2. Insert mid-article — places a card at a section break in the middle of the article. (Default on.)
  3. Insert at the end — appends a card after the article body. (Default off.)

Both placement toggles are independent, so you can use mid-article, end, or both:

Insert mid-articleInsert at the endResult
OnOffOne card at a mid-article section break (falls back to the end if no suitable break is found, so a card always appears).
OffOnOne card at the very end.
OnOnA card mid-article and a card at the end.
OffOffNo card is inserted, even if "Include Promotion Card" is on.

A mid-article card placed at a section break tends to convert better than one only at the end, because it reaches readers while they're still engaged. Turning on both maximizes reach but is more assertive. Note that Email Form cards are never inserted mid-article — they only appear at the end.

Click Save changes in the panel to apply. These settings apply everywhere RankTurn creates articles: articles you generate yourself, scheduled generation, content plans, and series.

AI Contextualization

By default, a promotion card always shows the same title, description, and button text you typed. With AI-optimize copy per article you can have RankTurn reword specific text fields to fit each article as it's written, while keeping your brand image, colors, and URL fixed.

In the CTA card editor there is an AI-optimize copy per article section with three independent switches:

  • Optimize title — rewrites the headline to match the article.
  • Optimize description — rewrites the supporting text.
  • Optimize button text — rewrites the button label.

Each switch is set per template and is off by default. Turn on only the fields you want adapted; the rest stay exactly as written. The brand parts of the card (image, colors, and the link) are never changed by this feature.

This section appears only on styles that have text — it is hidden for the Image only style, which has nothing to reword.

Inserting Cards Manually in the Editor

You don't have to rely on automatic insertion — you can drop a card anywhere in an article by hand. Open an article in the editor and find the Promotion Card panel in the sidebar.

  1. Place your cursor where you want the card to appear in the article body.
  2. In the Promotion Card sidebar panel, pick a template from the dropdown (the default template is marked with a star and pre-selected).
  3. Click Insert Promotion Card. The card is inserted at the cursor position.
  4. After inserting, you can drag the card's handle to move it elsewhere in the article.

If the article already contains a promotion card, the editor asks you to confirm before adding another. If you haven't created any templates yet, the panel links you straight to Promotion Settings so you can make one.
